AMPS

AMPS(2 – Acrylamide, 2 – Methylpropane, Sulfonic Acid)) is an important monomer, widely used in textile, oil drilling, water treatment, papermaking, dyeing, coating, cosmetics, electronics, etc. because of its unique formula structure—containing sulfonic acid group and unsaturated radical, thus showing excellent properties in many aspects.

Properties:

• PH: strong acid PH of 0.1%(Wt) solution is 2.6. its sodium salt is neutral
• Stability: stable under room temperature, but its solution should avoid self-polymerization.
• Polymerization: It can homopolymerization or copolymerization

Applications:

AMPS(2 – Acrylamide, 2 – Methylpropane, Sulfonic Acid)) contains strong anionic, water-soluble sulfur groups, shielded amide groups, and unsaturated double bonds, which make it have excellent comprehensive performance. AMPS has good binding, adsorption, biological activity, surface activity, hydrolytic stability, and thermal stability. It can be used for copolymerization and processing reactions. It can be widely used in various fields such as water treatment, oilfield chemistry, chemical fiber, water-absorbing materials, plastics, coatings, papermaking, textiles, printing and dyeing, biomedicine, magnetic materials, and cosmetics.

1. Water treatment: homopolymer of AMPS(2 – Acrylamide, 2 – Methylpropane, Sulfonic Acid)) monomer or copolymer with monomers such as acrylamide, acrylic acid, etc., it can be used as sludge dewatering agent in the sewage purification process, used as iron, zinc, aluminum, copper in closed water circulation system And anti-corrosion agent of alloy; can also be used as descaling agent and scale inhibitor of the heater, cooling tower, air purifier, and gas purifier.
2.  Oilfield chemistry: The application of products in the field of oilfield chemistry has developed rapidly. The scope of coverage includes oil well cement additives, drilling fluid treatment agents, acidizing fluids, fracturing fluids, completion fluids, and workover fluid additives.
3.  Synthetic fibers: AMPS(2 – Acrylamide, 2 – Methylpropane, Sulfonic Acid)) are important monomers to improve the comprehensive performance of certain synthetic fibers, especially acrylic fiber or acrylic fiber, the amount of which is 1%-4% of the fiber, which can significantly improve the whiteness and dyeability of the fiber, Antistatic, breathable and flame retardant.
4.  Sizing of textiles: copolymer of 2-acrylamide-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid, ethyl acetate, and enoic acid, is an ideal sizing of cotton and polyester blended textiles, with easy to use and easy to remove with water specialty.
5.  Papermaking: The copolymer of 2-acrylamide-2-methyl propane sulfonic acid and other water-soluble monomers is an indispensable chemical for various paper mills. It can be used as a drainage aid and sizing agent. The strength of paper can also be used as a pigment dispersant for color coatings.
